New Year's 2013 *UPDATED*

Hello, kind friends!

We trust that you've all had a beautiful and blessed year!

"O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth."  (Isaiah 25, 1) There is such a peace and a joy in your heart as you go through the year, knowing that our God is in heaven, and that He reigns, and that He loves us...praise Him!

Thanks so much for stopping by! And now for the fun details...........

Beginning Sunday, December 29, we welcome you to stay with us here at the farm.  ( We plan to be out of town at a wedding on Saturday.)  We would be so honored to have you here.

Accommodations

Please call and we'll put your name on a room! If all of those are filled, we'll start filling up the sofas and floor space, and those who want to, can bring on the tents, RVs, pop-ups and any other portable shelters. ;) There are plenty of spots to hook up any RV's to electricity, too.

When you call, let us know whether you would like for your family to stay together in one room, or if you would like for your girls to join the girls over at Wesley and Rachel's, and your boys to join the guys at their spot. It would be helpful for us to know (in placing people in rooms) whether we are preparing for a couple or a family. Both are wonderful-just let us know your preference.

FOOD PLANS

If you will be here for a meal, bring a bit and we'll put all our bits together and have a grand time...we wish we could treat everyone to the meals, but alas! So we list the menu for the meal and do some planning and it seems to work out great......

Sunday evening
We thought hamburgers sounded fun.  Please bring some hamburgers and buns for your family and we'll have a big pot of baked beans ready.

Monday
We'll have eggs and grits for breakfast.  If you like, bring some cinnamon rolls or bacon or your favorite breakfast thing.

Lunch will be Black Bean Soup and some sort o bread.....{please bring a bit of krispy treats, if you like, and some 1/2 and 1/2  and  mozzarella cheese }

These are an especially delicious versions...
 Sander's Rice Krispie Treats:
 The Recipe :
                       1 stick of butter
                      10 ounces of marshmallows
1/4 t of coarse sea salt (coarse salt works best)
                      6 C of Rice Krispies (about1/2 of a 12 ounce box)

butter an 8" square pan.
brown the stick of butter over medium heat (browning the butter is important, but don't burn it)
add the marshmallows, turn off the heat and stir the marshmallows until they melt.
mix the salt and the cereal.
now, mix the marshmallows and the cereal and spread in the pan.
sprinkle on some more coarse salt

Supper will be a Salad Bar
{We plan to cut a salad mix out of our garden - oo,la,la organic and fresh as fresh can be - you all bring the toppings - cheese, dressings, croutons, craisins, nuts, chicken nuggets, boiled eggs or veggies. }

The Ball - A sweet and a salty.   Oh, what fun! Coffee punch, here we come...

Monday or Tuesday, we may do some family games outdoors (think Scottish feats of rock-throwing, relay races, three-legged races, and how are you at tug-of-war?) Afternoons can be spent in fellowship and other fun and on Tuesday, preparing for the evening's festivities that begin at 6:00 in the Barn.

Wednesday
Breakfast will be quiche, fruit salad, grits and eggs-please bring fruit and eggs to contribute.

Dancing details:

Dances (mainly English country dances) are to be danced in family....... Husband/wife, brother/sister, father/daughter, mother/ son.

While sometimes we practice dancing with two girls/two boys, we ask that at the ball, a gentleman dance with a lady, and a lady with a gentleman.

Ah, what fun we'll have! As Jane Austen's William Lucas is reported to have said, "There's nothing like dancing, you know." ;)

Oh, and for dancing instructions, We hope to dance Monday night, and then also have a dance class Tuesday evening at 4:00 or 5:00 right before the ball for anyone who wasn't there on Monday. It's lots of fun!

Also, for those of you who would prefer not to dance, please come anyway. There are always people not dancing that one can fellowship with and talk to. The dance space cannot accommodate everyone at the same time, so there are lots of folks just watching and visiting.

And, if you were wondering what "in costume with a story to share" means, 'tis this:

We love to hear about God's mighty hand in history-so, please come dressed as a Christian from the past (from Adam to present!) and have a little something to say about the person you're representing. It is always so inspiring to hear the incredible stories of our spiritual mothers and fathers! There will be a designated time for people to get up and tell their stories during the evening.

One guest said it well - "This is a 'Heroes of the Faith' Ball". We have had guests tell such inspiring stories that we still speak of them and come so realistically dressed that their own children did not recognize them!   Indeed, this is a time to honor our fathers and our mothers and tell our children many stirring stories of those who have gone before us.

Babies, sweet babies:

Just wanted to let all the dear mothers know that the barn suite (that is right next to the dancing room) will be ready for any sleepy babies and nursing mothers. There's also a few places to pitch your play pens as well. Then, too, along the walls we hope to have comfy couches and/or pallets for the children who begin to look cross-eyed around 11:00. ;)

We have such a fun weekend with you all, working and cooking, feasting and cleaning up and praying and exchanging thoughts and visiting and smiling and talking and fellow shipping.....!

Much love,

The Mortons

PS. Looking through old pictures today and enjoying so many wonderful memories...love y'all!
